Kanye West dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! overnight, promoting the overdue release of his new album Jesus Is King. The album was expected to be out by the time the show broadcast, though this was not to be. Watch the chat—in which Kanye discusses how family life helped him find God, making church fun, and more—below.
Asked if he’s a Christian music artist now, he replied, “I’m just a Christian everything.” He also spoke about buying land instead of Gucci jackets. “Putting ourselves on TV, we always have to show this luxury. I’ve got a cheap-ass hoodie on, and I’m a billionaire. (Sorry I said ass—my Christian scorecard is lowered for the day.)” They also ran a clip from the Jesus Is King iMax movie.
Jesus Is King was supposed to come out at 3 a.m.—that’s two and a half hours ago at time of publication—but it did not materialize. West will not sleep until he’s finished making tweaks to the mix and released the album, according to his latest update. West’s new IMAX documentary, also titled Jesus Is King, premieres today, too.
